tabi's drabble ♥ I am not 100% satisfied with this (at all) and might come back with some modifications, but for now it keeps the fingers working.

If there was one thing that Choi Seunghyun had mastered in his life then it was silences. Pointed pauses to let fans scream their heart out when calling out to him, wordless moments when he knew that a single look could convey more thoughts than any speech could, and those times when he’s staring at his object of affection and knows that his muteness will get him anywhere.
It had started out of politeness and curiosity first, he’d tell himself. Trying to interject Park Bom’s natural chatter wasn’t a skill that every man came by easily, especially when said man was all too keen on actually hearing her thoughts. It was little things at first. What her group had been up to, what she had been doing that weekend, what her favorite food was. Everything meticulously filed away in his brain the way he always did – information was power, information would let him be the reliable and all-knowing perfect guy that would say the right things at the right time to astonish her in the most positive way. He prided himself in being the observant one.
Seunghyun knew the game was over for him when she ran out of valid topics and he still found himself enthralled with every new bit he learned about her. Suddenly, finding out her favorite nail polish color seemed just as important as knowing that she was doing well. Anyone else’s mundane problems would have thinned his patience and made him briskly leave the premises hours ago. Hers were a treat.
The third step of insanity was probably the moment he found out that he wasn’t even listening all that much anymore. She had given him a good shove for that once and he inwardly prayed that it had been because she had noticed his lack of nods at the right moments and not because he had been staring at her moving lips for what felt like eons. He had to be subtler about that part the next time.
And subtle he was.
It was an entirely new kind of game with her. How far could he go before she’d notice his lack of verbal agreement and demand a response? How often could he map her face with his gaze before he’d get caught? How far could he stretch the silence and let her rant about one thing or another before his own amusement would betray him and cause his lips to shift into a treacherous upward curl?
Seunghyun found out soon enough.
It was one particular evening that would stay etched in his mind for months to come. He took pride in his observations, yet he hadn’t seen her reaction coming when he was once again playing his game of patience, silence and subtle staring. Maybe it was the way her reddening cheeks had distracted him entirely this time - he had been wondering just what it would take to make them flush just a little further.
What he hadn’t expected was to get whacked right in the face with a pillow all of a sudden. In hindsight he had to reprimand himself for being foolish enough to even think that he’d never get caught. But right then she had - and reacted the way only Park Bom ever dared to.
He was still clutching his smarting nose, eyes wide in surprise, when her laughter bubbled up and broke the silence once more.
